From our customers...

“One of the things you come to realize when you start a U-pick blueberry farm is that people are not the only ones that love blueberries. My wife and I started a small U-pick blueberry farm several years ago in central Missouri. We thought that we might have a few birds attracted to the fruit during harvest, but we were naïve to this issue. Robins are our big problem. It didn’t take long before a few robins multiplied into flocks. I’ve concluded their passion for blueberries is no less than humans. We needed help. That is when I started talking with Bird Gard. Over the last couple of years, we have purchased several of their Super Pro systems. They help a lot. Most importantly they have been responsive to my calls and provided meaningful guidance for how I can tailor Bird Gard for my specific situation. As we expand and plant more blueberries, we will be purchasing more Bird Gards. I highly recommend their product and services.”

Description

Bird control for small-acreage operations.

The Sonic Hawk 100 is engineered for hobby farms, dairies, vineyards, riding arenas, food processing facilities, feed alleys, outbuildings, and any small-acreage operation where birds threaten crops, livestock feed, or property. A 4-speaker box projects high-fidelity bioacoustic recordings — species-specific distress calls and predator vocalizations — over a circular area up to 250 feet in every direction, roughly ~4 acres typical under ideal field conditions.

IntelliGard OS comes standard.

Every Sonic Hawk 100 ships with IntelliGard OS, Bird Gard’s anti-habituation operating system. Most “squawk box” deterrents fail because birds learn the pattern within days. IntelliGard OS solves this with randomized playback intervals, strategic time-off periods, and a library of 250+ species-specific bioacoustic profiles, so the soundscape never becomes predictable. Sound profiles are developed in collaboration with researchers and updated by USB.

What the field data shows.

In a 2024 peer-reviewed orchard field study, bioacoustic deterrents of this class reduced bird damage by 44–54% (Frontiers in Plant Science). On premium fresh-market crops — Honeycrisp apples, sweet cherries, fresh blueberries, wine grapes — that level of damage reduction translates to thousands of dollars per acre in preserved harvest value. Bird Gard’s published ROI model assumes a conservative 50% efficacy and still produces meaningful Year-2 returns at current USDA/NASS yield and pricing benchmarks.

Bird Deterrent Best Practices

Total coverage is necessary for optimal results.

Birds are bold and they won’t hesitate to take advantage of unprotected areas. Any areas not fully protected will allow birds to start feeding on the fringes of the sound coverage area. Birds that remain nearby will acclimate to insufficiently intense deterrent sounds, resulting in less than satisfactory results. When the entire crop is adequately protected birds are quick to abandon the area.  Let your Bird Gard representative know the intensity of your bird pressure as this will allow for a professional recommendation on the coverage density.

Birds typically feed from the perimeter of the crop and work their way in. The effective range of your Bird Gard units need to extend beyond the edge of your crop.

Terrain and other obstacles must be considered.
Hills, structures and trees can block the sounds and must be taken into consideration when placing your Bird Gard units.

Birds will congregate in trees, surrounding foliage and on power lines to stage feeding raids.
Your Bird Gard units must be positioned close enough to the foliage and power lines to drive the birds out.

Speaker placement and volume are critical.
A coverage area map provided by Bird Gard will assist you in placing the systems on your desired area. Overlapping coverage and full volume increases the effectiveness of each unit.

Ensure optimal bird protection with a free detailed proposal.
Using satellite imagery we are able to provide you with a customized proposal for your property, taking into consideration the terrain, trees and any neighbors. It is the best way to ensure you get the results you need.

If you already implement a visual bird deterrent.

Keep using your visual deterrent.  Bird Gard systems will help increase the effectiveness of those deterrents but will add protection where those deterrents can’t reach (around corners, under the crop foliage, etc.)

The Super Pro USB protects 3-4 acres while the Super Pro Amp USB protects as much as 20 acres.

The Super Pro features a 4-speaker box, whereas the Super Pro Amp comes with a 20-speaker tower for more extensive sound coverage.

The Super Pro Amp has two high-output amplifiers, producing sounds up to 125 decibels, making it significantly more powerful than the standard Super Pro.

Yes. The coverage area for the Super Pro Amp USB is 6 times greater than the Super Pro USB.

Key Differences for the Super Pro Amp USB:

  • 20 speakers vs. 4 speakers
  • Built in amplifier
  • 45 Watt Solar Panel vs. 25 Watt Solar Panel

While the Super Pro Amp is much more powerful than the Super Pro, proper hearing protection should be worn in close proximity when the Super Pro is turned on.
