Description

Bird control that goes where the birds are.

The Mobile Sonic Hawk puts Bird Gard’s Sonic Hawk 100 control box and a 4-speaker box on your truck or car. The speaker box has a magnetic base that mounts to the hood or roof, and the whole system runs from your vehicle’s 12V DC cigarette-lighter outlet — no battery or solar panel to set up. Drive field edges, orchard rows and the spots where birds gather, and put bioacoustic pressure right where damage is happening.

Who it’s for.

  • Growers who want to patrol problem blocks during peak feeding times
  • Operations that need to cover ground a single stationary unit can’t reach
  • Sites that move from field to field through the season
  • Owners of stationary Bird Gard systems who want a mobile unit to back them up at hotspots

The same sound system as the Sonic Hawk 100.

The control box is the Sonic Hawk 100 unit: species-specific distress calls and predator vocalizations loaded by USB, DIP-switch mode settings, volume control and a mute button. Your sound profile is set up for the crop and birds you tell us about when you order.

IntelliGard OS comes standard.

Every Mobile Sonic Hawk ships with IntelliGard OS, Bird Gard’s anti-habituation operating system. Most “squawk box” deterrents fail because birds learn the pattern within days. IntelliGard OS uses randomized playback intervals, strategic time-off periods, and a library of 250+ species-specific bioacoustic profiles, so the soundscape never becomes predictable. Sound profiles are developed in collaboration with researchers and updated by USB.

What the field data shows.

The strongest peer-reviewed field trial of broadcast distress calls followed nine commercial Pinot noir vineyards in California’s Carneros AVA over two seasons. Blocks using conventional methods alone averaged 13.0% bird damage; blocks that added broadcast alarm and distress calls averaged 5.7% — a 56% reduction. Netting, the benchmark, showed 2.3% (Berge, Delwiche, Gorenzel & Salmon, 2007, American Journal of Enology and Viticulture 58(1): 135–143). That study used stationary units, not a vehicle-mounted system, so treat it as evidence for the method rather than a promise for this product.

No deterrent removes every bird, and results vary with site, crop, acreage, bird pressure and how often you patrol. Varying your routes and times helps keep birds from getting used to the sound.
