Crows and Ravens

PREVENT CROW AND RAVEN DAMAGE

Crows and ravens can be found in almost all of North America. While they look similar and often flock together, each has its own mannerisms and vocal characteristics. Flocks can range from a family of a dozen birds to huge congregated flocks of hundreds or even thousands that blacken the sky at dusk as they descend to their roosting site. It is also common to see individual birds foraging or causing trouble.

Crows and ravens are considered to be among the most intelligent of all animals. They have been shown to be able to recognize human faces and work together to distract other birds to steal food. Growers report that crows know which field-hand keeps a shotgun in the nearby truck.

Huge flocks of crows and ravens cause extensive damage in urban and industrial settings where each night vehicles, buildings and walkways near roosting sites get coated with a thick layer of droppings, creating health and safety hazards. In agriculture, crows and ravens damage irrigation lines, tear open silage wraps and cause extensive crop damage. Studies have documented that a single crow or raven will consume a pound or more of nuts each day, and damage many times more nuts along the way.

Crows and ravens are fairly unique in their use of “scouts”.  Each morning at daybreak scouts will venture out, often in pairs flying high over cropland to determine where the flock will feed later in the day. When the scouts come in range of the Bird Gard deterrent sounds they change direction and choose someplace else for the flock to feed.

Bird Gard has been partnering with farmers and businesses to protect crops and property for over 30 years.

From our customers...

“We had a thousand crows in one orchard eating the crop at a damaging rate. In desperation we installed one Bird Gard Super Pro Amp thinking it might help a little. Immediately upon installation the crows totally vanished. There was not one crow to be found in the orchard all the way through harvest. I could not believe it. We are installing 30 more units this season."

Electronic Bird Control

Bird Gard harnesses the power of the natural survival instincts in birds to effectively repel them. Digital recordings of species-specific distress and alarm calls, along with the sounds made by their natural predators, are broadcast through high fidelity, weather-resistant speakers. These trigger a primal fear-and-flee response. Pest birds soon relocate to where they can feed without feeling threatened.

Birds stay out… for good!

Our bird repellers continually randomize the order in which the sounds play, the time interval between the calls and the relative pitch of each bird sound. This creates the impression that there are many birds in distress in the protected area. This multi-layered randomization prevents birds from becoming habituated to the sounds. Bird Gard can protect your property year after year.
