Protect By Bird

Cedar Waxwings

Cedar Waxwings are small and beautiful yellow/tan birds with a black face-mask and distinctive red “wax droplets” that sometimes appear on their wingtips. They are a migratory species common in most parts of North America. Cedar waxwings travel in huge flocks and are ravenous eaters. They are an extremely persistent species that is easily startled, but nearly impossible to get rid of once they get firmly established. As a result they can be devastating in their damage to crops, especially berries, grapes and cherries.

Cedar waxwings will often congregate in trees surrounding crops, then circle over the top of the orchard, vineyard or berry field and suddenly dive in. In blueberries they flutter around in the bushes, knocking a large amount of fruit to the ground.

These birds are impervious to most forms of bird control and even extensive shotgun shooting seems to do little to deter them. Bird Gard products are effective at reducing the damage caused by cedar waxwings. The best results are obtained by starting bird control early, before the invading population takes hold.

Bird Gard has been helping farmers protect their crops and livelihoods for more than 30 years.

From our customers...

“We have had a chronic problem with cedar waxwings and other birds roosting adjacent to our Merlot vines and decimating our crop. Once we installed the Bird Gard unit the birds disappeared. Using Bird Gard has been a great success!"

Electronic Bird Control

Bird Gard harnesses the power of the natural survival instincts in birds to effectively repel them. Digital recordings of species-specific distress and alarm calls, along with the sounds made by their natural predators, are broadcast through high fidelity, weather-resistant speakers. These trigger a primal fear-and-flee response. Pest birds soon relocate to where they can feed without feeling threatened.

Birds stay out… for good!

Our bird repellers continually randomize the order in which the sounds play, the time interval between the calls and the relative pitch of each bird sound. This creates the impression that there are many birds in distress in the protected area. This multi-layered randomization prevents birds from becoming habituated to the sounds. Bird Gard can protect your property year after year.
