Does the Bird Gard systems work to deter birds?
Yes! Bird Gard is the most effective and cost friendly way to deter birds from destroying a crop. Bird Gard units use a combination of digital recordings of bird distress calls, predator cries, and harassment sounds, broadcast through high-quality speakers. This creates a hostile environment for birds, making them feel threatened and encouraging them to leave the area. Our systems are designed to target specific bird species causing problems for your crops and livestock, providing an effective and humane solution to bird damage.

How long does it take to see results?
Most of our customers see an instant reduction in their bird population. However, the exact time to see results can vary depending on the size of the area being protected, the type of birds being deterred, and the density of the bird population. Getting the Bird Gard systems up well before the birds establish a feeding pattern and consistent use of systems at full volume is key to long-term success.
What is needed for installation?
The systems are built to affix to a 1” diameter pole/conduit. This pole is secured to the ground by hose clamping it to one or two t-posts (depending on the height of the crop and susceptibility to high winds) – brackets are provided by Bird Gard. Assembly and installation typically takes 45 – 60 minutes to complete and can take less time per system when doing additional units. We do not supply the 1” diameter pole nor the 12-volt deep cycle battery (if using solar). These items are more expensive to ship than for the user to purchase themselves locally. We highly recommend that the system’s speaker be elevated 2 – 3 feet above the crop’s canopy. Two additional drop speakers may be considered if systems are placed in orchards with larger trees. Do not obstruct the speakers as this may diminish efficacy. It is HIGHLY recommended that the systems be placed where noted on the Coverage Map provided by your Bird Gard specialist. Does any other bird deterrent company offer species targeted bio-acoustics utilizing randomization and pattern disruption?
No. This technology is exclusive to Bird Gard and is considered proprietary property. No other bird deterrent company randomizes their stimuli while targeting a specific bird species.
I have tried other deterrents, and the birds just get used to it. Why is Bird Gard different?
No bird deterrent company will keep out 100% of the birds. Birds are a wild animal driven by a natural instinct to eat and survive. And, like birds sitting on top of a scarecrow, they will habituate to anything that has a regular pattern. While we do not discourage the use of multiple deterrents, no other company but Bird Gard randomizes their stimuli to combat habituation, customizes their system to target a specific bird species, and penetrates where other deterrents can’t reach… under the crop canopy.

Isn’t Bird Gard just a squawk box that produces a sound?
No! Sound is very different from bio-acoustics. Devices, such as squawk boxes and cannons, generate non-targeted generic noises that have repeated patterns and no customization. Bird Gard produces a biological acoustic that replicates the warning language of a specific bird species. Randomized profile lengths and randomized time off intervals in the Bird Gard systems create a pattern disruption to combat habituation and directly targets the nuisance bird species at your farm.
