Protect By Bird

European Starlings

There are an estimated 200-300 million European starlings in the United States, with flocks reaching up to a half a million birds or more. In flight they move in unison to create ever-changing formations called murmurations.

Starlings are the most destructive of all bird species. They often take over the nests of other birds, destroying their eggs in the process. Starlings can tear into and dig holes in insulation to make way for their nests. In crops, a large flock of starlings can completely wipe out an entire field or orchard in a few hours. Starlings commonly invade food packing and processing operations where their droppings can spread dangerous pathogens including E.coli, Salmonella and Listeria. In the winter, when food is scarce, starlings will descend on dairies and livestock operations to steal the protein out of feed troughs.

Starlings are also the most common or “popular” bird repelled by Bird Gard.

Bird Gard has been helping farmers protect their crops and property for more than 30 years.

From our customers...

“I didn’t lose any fruit for the first time in 15 years. We witnessed the starlings sitting in the trees, staring at the fruit, but not daring to come in. It was a beautiful thing! Bird Gard works."

Electronic Bird Control

Bird Gard harnesses the power of the natural survival instincts in birds to effectively repel them. Digital recordings of species-specific distress and alarm calls, along with the sounds made by their natural predators, are broadcast through high fidelity, weather-resistant speakers. These trigger a primal fear-and-flee response. Pest birds soon relocate to where they can feed without feeling threatened.

Birds stay out… for good!

Our bird repellers continually randomize the order in which the sounds play, the time interval between the calls and the relative pitch of each bird sound. This creates the impression that there are many birds in distress in the protected area. This multi-layered randomization prevents birds from becoming habituated to the sounds. Bird Gard can protect your property year after year.
